Mr. Orstell Barnett

What is your occupation?
Vice-President of Public Sector Sales.
What is your favorite memory about Gardner-Webb University?
My favorite memory is right after a meal catching up with everyone in the student center downstairs. We would play Pinball, PacMan or watch the latest music videos on the big screen (32 inch) TV. We did not have as much as the students do today, so we socialized and built relationships that still last today.
What has Gardner-Webb Athletics taught you?
Jonathan was one of four Runnin' Bulldogs crowned East Regional Champions, posting a first-place finish in the 184 weight class. The lone senior went 2-0 on the day, earning a 5-2 win over John Merickel of Campbell and a 3-1 decision over Aaron Kelley of Liberty to take first-place overall. The Runnin' Bulldogs finished in second-place overall with 74.5 points and Velazquez was named Most Outstanding Wrestling at the Regional event. The four East Regional Champions and NCAA National qualifiers is the most that the Runnin' Bulldogs have had in a single season since sending four back in 2006. The 2011 NCAA National Championships will be held Philadelphia, Pa. on March 17th-19th.
The sophomore thrower highlighted day one of the 2011 Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships for the Runnin' Bulldogs, setting a new school record and earning all-conference honors with a first-place finish in the shot put event with a mark of 13.41 meters (44'). The Queens, N.Y. native recorded a fifth-place finish in the women's weight throw event on Friday with a school record and personal best mark of 16.19 meters (53'1.50"). Gardner-Webb had 11 total all-conference performers at the two-day event in Clemson, S.C. The 5'11" hurler attended and lettered at Flushing High School and was the PSAC Indoor City and Borough Champion and state finalist as a senior and a sophomore.
