The results are in for Gardner-Webb’s fiscal year 2009, and as we hinted earlier this year, GWU alumni have broken the school record of alumni participation with 16.7% alumni giving. While this is an all-time high, this is only the beginning of incredible new times at GWU. Thank you, alumni, for supporting Gardner-Webb’s mission and allowing current students the same life-changing experiences that devote you to your alma mater. Gardner-Webb University is gaining momentum, due largely to alumni support. There is an unmistakable energy at GWU as new and improved programs are implemented and the phenomenal faculty and staff continue to build these programs for students, alumni and friends of the University. The academic enhancements, incredible student experiences and the focus on service-learning could not be accomplished without the support and generosity of alumni who give through the GWU Annual Fund.
This year’s alumni participation percentage is a strong statement from GWU alumni of commitment and belief in the incredible experience that is Gardner-Webb University. The alumni giving percentage is extremely important because, not only does it prove that GWU has considerable support and love from alumni; it also gives foundations and corporations an indication of where the University is headed. Foundations that support higher education look to institutions with strong alumni support to gauge their overall success. Simply stated, if alumni believe in the mission of the school it is a sound investment for foundations as well.
This fall, alumni can expect a call from SDOs who will celebrate with you the amazing, record-breaking number of alumni who showed such astounding support this past year. These students will also tell the GWU extended family about the current happenings and ask you to get involved once again.
As GWU makes tremendous strides in becoming a competitive and successful higher education institution, we ask you, loyal alumni, to join the movement that is propelling the University to new heights and continue the momentum that is Gardner-Webb University.
