The Dietary Diplomat

Amy Cawley, Instructor in the Department of Physical Education, Wellness and Sport Studies at Gardner-Webb University, was one of 80 other professors and graduate students from universities throughout the United States and around the world who participated in the Dietary Supplement Research Practicum 2009. Sponsored by the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements, this round table featured speakers from Federal regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. While most of the Practicum was held in Bethesda, Maryland on the campus of NIH, participants also spent time in Washington, D.C., where they met with representatives from the U.S. Congress, the dietary supplement industry, media, and consumer advocacy groups. In addition to attending the Practicum, Amy was selected to appear as a VIP member in the 2009-2010 edition of the Cambridge Who’s Who Registry. Only 10 males and 10 females from each industry are selected for this honor each year.
