Dwayne “Pluto” Lanier 2006 B.A.

Dwayne "Pluto" Lanier married Amber Renee Gordon on September 20, 2008. Pluto is a Habilitation Technician with People Helping People of North Carolina. He assists mentally ill or handicapped children and adults to live more independently. Amber is a private nanny and attends Forsyth Technical Community College.

William Gregory Weisner 2000 B.S.

William Gregory Weisner was recently named Director of Environmental Health and Safety for Coastal Carolina University. He previously served as Assistant Director of Judicial Affairs and Off Campus Student Services at the University. Prior to that, Weisner was Chief of Campus Safety, Coordinator of Student Activities, and Director of Residence Life at Spartanburg Methodist College. He is an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorized trainer.

Timothy Edward Phillips 2007 M.A.

Timothy Edward Phillips died on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Lexington Medical Center. He was Assistant Principal at Ewing Middle School and had previously taught at Gaffney Middle School and Blacksburg Elementary School He was a Deacon and Church Training Director at Crestview Baptist Church.

Tony Wayne Regan 2008 B.S.

Tony Wayne Regan is pleased to announce the birth of his baby boy, Cameron Alexander Regan, who was born on November 25, 2009.

Justin Wayne Keziah 2008 B.S.

Justin Wayne Keziah was recently named Member Service Specialist at the Harris YMCA near Quail Hollow, North Carolina.

Chan Won Cho 2009 M.A.

Chan Won Cho is now a Strength and Conditioning Specialist at Sidewell Friends School in Washington, D.C. where President Obama’s daughters, Malia and Sasha, attend.

Ashley Sims Leitherer 2000 B.A.

Ashley Sims Leitherer and her husband, Jim, are proud to announce the birth of their first child, Alexis Nicole Leitherer. Alexis was born December 4, 2008 and weighed 8lbs. and 3ozs. She is now 15 months old and thriving in every way. Ashley and Jim share, "Although learning to be parents has been challenging over the past year, she has made our lives complete. We will also celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary in just 3 months on June 10, 2010."

Bruce Hugh Hawkins, Jr. 1984 B.S.

Bruce Hugh Hawkins, Jr. passed away unexpectedly in Asheville on Thursday, January 28, 2010. He was employed with Sultan Healthcare of New Jersey for the past ten years as a Regional Sales Manager where he was Salesman of the Year for three years in a row. He was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church in Spruce Pine. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, his parents, one sister, and two brothers.

Edward Allen Shifflette, III '09 B.S. and Laura Anne Bowen '09 A.A.

Edward Allen Shifflette, III and Laura Anne Bowen were married on May 23, 2009 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church in Kernersville, North Carolina. Eddie attends Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University and Laura is a Nurse at Duke University Hospital.

Jean Falls Moore 1968 A.A.

Jean Falls Moore recently retired from Cleveland Medical Associates after 42 years in the field of nursing. In addition to serving at a hospital in Anchorage Alaska, she has worked at Kings Mountain Hospital and Hendricks-Durham-Lee Clinic. Jean and her husband, Rick, have two children and three grandchildren.
