GWU Women’s Basketball to Recognize Kim Jenkins as the Women's Basketball Alumnus of the Year

On Saturday, February 19, the Gardner-Webb women’s basketball coaching staff and program will recognize Kim Jenkins as the 2011 Gardner-Webb Women’s Basketball Alumnus of the Year prior to the tip-off of its Big South Conference game versus Coastal Carolina at 3 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena. Jenkins, formerly Kim Houser, suited up for the GWU women’s basketball team from 1992-96 where she finished her career with 1,329 points which still ranks seventh all-time in Gardner-Webb women’s basketball history.

Gardner-Webb Tennis Alumni Weekend

The Gardner-Webb men's and women's tennis team will be hosting their annual alumni tennis match and lunch on Saturday, October 30th at 10:00 a.m. at the GWU Tennis Complex. All tennis alumni are welcome to attend to meet the current team and reminisce with former teammates. The alumni match will start at 10:00 a.m. with lunch to follow at 12:30p.m. After lunch, join the group to take in the Runnin' Bulldogs 1:30 p.m. football game against Coastal Carolina. Bulldog Club Tailgate at Charleston Southern

The Office of Alumni Relations and the Bulldog Club will host a tailgate meal prior to the Runnin’ Bulldogs contest at Charleston Southern on Saturday, October 16th. Gardner-Webb Wrestling Alumni Day and Fall Clinic

The Gardner-Webb Wrestling program recently announced that their annual Alumni/Family Day will be held on Saturday, September 18th. The day will include a tailgate prior to the Runnin' Bulldogs 6:00 p.m. football contest against regional rival Western Carolina. The wrestling program will also host their 2010 Fall Technique Camp on Saturday, September 18th begining at 9:00 a.m.

2010 Football Travel: GWU vs. Akron

The Bulldog Club is organizing a bus trip to travel to the Bulldogs' game against the Akron Zips on Saturday, September 11th.  The trip will include a visit to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. Provided below is tentative cost and travel information.  Interested individuals must email bulldogclub@gardner-webb.edu to state their interest and indicate the anticipated number of individuals traveling in their group.  Deadline to indicate your interest is Wednesday, August 18th.  A full bus of Runnin' Bulldog fans is needed to make this trip possible.  Definitive plans and details will be announced to interested travelers on Friday, August 20th. GWU Wrestling Signs Seven in 2010 Recruiting Class

The Gardner-Webb Athletics Department, along with wrestling head coach Richard Wince, is pleased to announce that Matthew Beebe, Darius Wass, Travis Chesla, Lucas Dutch, Robert Golde, Jacob Mitchell, and Erin O'Dell have all signed to continue both their academic and athletic careers at Gardner-Webb University beginning in the fall of 2010. The seven signees is one of the largest classes that the Gardner-Webb wrestling program has brought in over the last few years and along with the new wrestling building set to open up sometime this fall, the Bulldog Wrestling program is continuing to make a resurgence onto the intercollegiate wrestling national scene. Student-Athlete Spotlight: Erica White

Erica White (Freshman), Women's Tennis: Erica White completed her freshman year at Gardner-Webb by claiming the 2010 Big South Conference Freshman of the Year honors in Women’s Tennis. White finished the year with an 18-5 overall record and a 3-4 mark in Big South action. Her 18 wins led the team during the 2010 season. White concluded her freshman campaign by winning three straight matches and 7 or her final 10 matches of the season. Erica teamed with junior Kasey Ellis to win 13 doubles matches during the 2010 season. Originally from Charleston, West Virginia, White attended George Washington High School.

John Henry Moss Baseball Stadium Construction Update

Construction continues on the new John Henry Moss Baseball Stadium on the campus of Gardner-Webb University. The stadium is named in honor of the late John Henry Moss, a Kings Mountain, NC native and former President of the South Atlantic League who was a key contributer in the development of the stadium. Stadium construction began in late October 2009 and will be open for the first pitch of the 2011 baseball season. Those interested in supporting this project can make their mark by taking advantage of various naming opportunities. GWU's Christa Fullwood Named to NCCSIA 2010 All-State University Division Softball Team

For the second straight year, Gardner-Webb first-baseman Christa Fullwood earned all-state honors, as the senior was named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association 2010 All-State University Division Softball Team. Fullwood is another repeat all-state honoree and a unanimous vote on this year’s squad after notching a blistering .389 batting average with 47 RBIs, 11 doubles, two triples and 10 home runs, which earned her a first-team All-Big South honor. She led GWU in nine offensive categories, while also earning a .992 fielding percentage to lead on defense. Fullwood led the Big South in on-base percentage (.473) and was second in average and RBIs.
